Chillin’ Oceanside, CA

This past Saturday, I spent the afternoon in Oceanside. Living in San Diego without a car, I sometimes forget just how pretty California can be. (Yay people with cars who don’t mind listening to me talk about my cats the entire car ride). Located just north of Carlsbad, Oceanside is definitely a beach town worth checking out.

The Town

Oceanside has a typical small beach town feel. Is it weird to say that it reminds me of a small town in cottage country (Canada) but just a lot cuter, warmer and sunnier? You can find a bunch of cute boutiques and cafes, with streets lined in palm trees.

The Beach

The beach in Oceanside is beautiful.  I didn’t walk down to the pier, but from a distance it looked like something worth seeing. The waves were large, with many people surfing and trying to fish during a lower tide. Times like this I wish I could surf. (Maybe I should learn while I’m here?)

What I Wore

Now that summer is near (it’s been here all year in San Diego mind you), I love picking up dresses that can be both a dress and a beach coverup. I picked up this floral dress at Target. While it is currently full price online, I picked it up in the sales rack at my local target. Not only is it light considering its length, it is also very comfortable. I love the patchwork print and the off-the-shoulder sleeves.

I kept with the floral theme, and wore a fringe strapless bikini set I got from Victoria’s Secret. (RIP VS Swim) If you want to find a good dupe of Victoria’s Secret swim, Target has a great collection. I have yet to purchase any (out of self control), but many suits have similar styles, cuts and even prints! Their Shade & Shore collection sizes tops by bra size, making it even closer to VS swim for a great fit.
