Brunch in Toronto

Now that I am back in San Diego for the remainder of the school quarter, it’s hard to believe that I was in Toronto just last week. Since I’m sick in bed, it definitely made me wish I could go back to brunch. One of my favorite places to go is Bonjour Brioche. It brings me back to that time I studied abroad in Tours, France a couple summers ago.

The Restaurant

Located on Queen Street East,  it is a cozy cafe perfect for a casual brunch. It is small, so expect a bit of a wait on the weekends during peak. The service is very quick and friendly, so it is definitely worth the wait. The interior reminds me of the local bakery you can find in any random French town.

The Food

Everything is fresh and delicious. My favorite things to get are the rare roast beef sandwich and the lemon raspberry brioche royale. It is also a must to pick up a fresh baguette to bring home.

(It is clearly the ultimate French accessory)

The Rest of the Day

It was so nice to be back in Toronto. Despite the cold weather, (these pictures are from when I was home in April) it was nice to walk around a real downtown for once. (Sorry downtown San Diego!)

Its crazy to see how much can change in just a short period of time. It was sad to see how quickly Honest Ed’s is falling apart.

I finally made it to Eva’s Original Chimneys, and I have to say I was slightly disappointed. I have been searching for a good version ever since I tried authentic ones (Trdelník) in Prague back in 2013. That was back when it was just sugar, cinnamon and walnuts. I got a cinnamon sugar and it was a lot better than the chimney stax at the Toronto Christmas Market. However, I found the cinnamon to be way too overpowering.

It’s also not a Sunday in Toronto if you don’t somehow end up at Snakes and Lattes.

With just a month left in San Diego for this school year, I’m excited to get back to Toronto life this summer.
