The Ex has always been my favourite way to end the summer. Wether you go for the crazy eats, the shopping or one of the many shows, there is always something for everyone (even if it’s not a very good year).
Toronto has been under an extreme heatwave the past couple months, so I knew I wanted to dress comfortably. My comfy go to sandal would be the Gizeh style Birkenstocks. My feet are very fragile in terms of blister making, which is unfortunate for cute sandal season. Silver is my new go to neutral since my black pair have finally died (RIP). I wore the denim off-the-shoulder dress from Zara that has been very popular this summer. This breezy off-the-shoulder dress is perfect for beating the heat while still feeling dressed up as you down some cotton candy (if it hasn’t already melt in the humidity).
The Midway is one of my favourite areas to walk through and photograph. From the pastel hues and images of food, it’s a great sight wherever you look.
One of the best ways to see what the midway has to offer is to take the chairlift, or as the Ex calls it; skyride. I like to get on the ride on the west end (near BMO field) as you get a view of the Toronto skyline. In previous years you were able to purchase a single ticket package that added up to an even $5 per person. However, this year 5 tickets were required, forcing you to buy a 4 ticket package plus one additional ticket. This made the ride $6.25 per person. The ticket increase is only a concern and inconvenience for those (like me) who cannot stomach most rides and passes on the ride-all-day bracelet.
I wanted to have my nails be a fun as my surrounding. I took some inspiration from Simply Nailogical and went with the holo Menchie the Cat.
The main reason why I decided to face the crazy crowds on a Saturday was to see an Argos game with my boyfriend (and his family) at BMO Field. While they started out strong, they ended up losing 46-23 versus the Edmonton Eskimos.
One of the biggest scams that I usually fall for are the carnival games at the Ex. This year my boyfriend won me a Pikachu due to our shared obsession with Pokemon Go. There were Meowths and Squirtles as far as the eyes could see.
While the midway may be dreamy during the day, it turns into a vibrant colourful (and noisy) display at night.
